Final Recommendation Statement: Screening for HIV Infection

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force released today a final recommendation statement on screening for HIV infection. The Task Force found that clinicians should screen for HIV in adolescents, adults, and all pregnant persons. To view the recommendation and the evidence on which it is based, please go here. The USPSTF recommends that clinicians screen for HIV infection in adolescents and adults aged 15 to 65 years. Younger adolescents and older adults who are at increased risk of infection should also be screened.

The USPSTF recommends that clinicians screen for HIV infection in all pregnant persons, including those who present in labor or at delivery whose HIV status is unknown.
