According to CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, mumps has been identified in migrants being held in detention facilities. Although the first confirmed cases were among detainees in facilities located in Texas, five other states have reported mumps cases in detention facilities. As of August 22, 2019, there were ongoing mumps outbreaks in 15 facilities in seven states, and new introductions continue to occur.
