FDA set to ban all e-cigarette flavors except tobacco and menthol

The FDA is looking to ban all e-cigarette flavors that come in cartridge form except tobacco and menthol sometime this week, according to a Wall Street Journal report. President Trump on Tuesday also indicated that some flavors may be pulled from the market. The FDA ban would apply only to pre-filled cartridges, but would leave intact open tank systems, which allow consumers to customize their own flavors in vape shops. The WSJ says the measure may be a compromise between the Trump administration, which is attempting to curb the exponential growth in youth vaping, and small business owners, who are likely to be hit hard by such a limit on flavored e-cigarettes. Market leader Juul Labs, which sells pre-filled cartridges, stopped selling its most popular flavor last year of mint in November in anticipation of such a ban, and had also stopped selling other flavors including mango and creme.
