New physician wellness report shows generational divide in how docs stay fit
A new report that looked at generational differences in the lifestyle and wellness of physicians finds that boomers (born between 1946-1964) tended to focus more on their health than younger generations. Here’s more:
- Time for personal health: 37% of boomers say they mostly have sufficient time to spend on personal health and wellness. In contrast, 30% of millennials (born 1981-1996) said the same, as did 28% of Gen Xers (born 1965-1980).
- Exercise: 25% of boomer physicians report exercising four to five times a week, compared to 23% of Gen Xers and 20% of millennials. Boomers were least likely to say they never exercise.
- Diet: Half of the more than 15,000 physicians surveyed say they were trying to lose weight. Boomers were most likely to report consuming three or more alcoholic drinks per week.
