AHRQ to Invest Up To $5 Million to Evaluate Health System Response to COVID-19 Pandemic; Offer Additional $2.5 Million in Supplemental Funding
AHRQ has published two notices about funding opportunities to support research that can empower health system leaders, providers, policymakers, and others as they look for the best way to treat patients and allocate critical resources for the COVID-19 pandemic. AHRQ will make up to $5 million available in new funds to evaluate innovations and challenges in rapidly expanding telehealth in response to COVID-19. These funds will support evaluating the impact of COVID-19 on quality, safety, and the value of health systems’ response, together with the role of primary care practices and professionals during the pandemic. AHRQ will also make at least $2.5 million available to active AHRQ grants and cooperative agreements so that current grantees can be part of the solution by addressing the health system’s responsiveness to the COVID-19 pandemic. By leveraging the efforts of current grantees, AHRQ aims to capitalize on the expertise of these grantees and their institutions, many of which are on the front lines of care and to expand on high-impact new knowledge about COVID-19.
