Federal Resources on HIV and Coronavirus (COVID-19) | HIV.gov
Beginning April 1, 2020, patients enrolled in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Ready, Set, PrEP program will fill their prescription for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication at no cost at their choice of Avita Pharmacy, CVS Health, Health Mart, Longs Pharmacy Solutions, Rite Aid, and Walgreens locations or through mail.
Across the country, HIV service organizations and providers are working with people with HIV to support adherence to antiretroviral medications during the COVID-19 pandemic and to maintain ongoing access to HIV testing, prevention, and care services.
HIV.gov has curated a collection of key federal resources related to HIV and COVID-19 to assist in this effort. Information is regularly being updated as we learn more in this evolving situation.
The Interim Guidance for COVID-19 and Persons with HIV is now available on the AIDSinfo website. The guidance, which was developed collectively by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Antiretroviral and Opportunistic Infections Guidelines Panels, which are working groups of the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council, is intended for health care providers and persons living with HIV in the United States.
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released Frequently Asked Questions about HIV and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The new resource addresses concerns related to COVID-19 and HIV and highlights how people with HIV can protect their health.
This is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation and CDC will provide updated information as it becomes available.
The Health Resources and Services Administration's HIV/AIDS Bureau hosted an All Grant Recipient Conference Call on Thursday, March 26. This call, “Updates for HRSA’s Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Recipients on Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19),” was audio only.
People with HIV are living longer. This is due in no small part to the clinical advances in HIV treatment and care which help people with HIV live to nearly the same life expectancy as the general population.
A second webinar titled "Psychosocial and Support Needs for Adults with HIV who are Aging in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program" has been rescheduled to take place in May 2020.
