The Trump administration rolls out new patient data rules
The Trump administration finalized rules requiring health providers and insurers share patient health data with their patients. In the words of STAT’s health tech guru, Casey Ross, “The rules are meant to accomplish for health data what the creation of the federal interstate system did for automobiles in the 1950s: they seek to set up a standardized and efficient means of conveyance that will allow patients to have greater personal freedom, while also supporting commercial development based on greater access to health information.” Check out Casey’s story here, and don’t miss his bonus Q&A with CMS administrator Seema Verma about the changes, here.
