The NRD is proud to observe October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Physical Therapy Month.

Added to Health within New York :

Unified Behavioral Health Center - Offers a centralized location for Service Members, Veterans and their families to receive mental health care at no cost.

Added to Tips & Guidebooks for Families within Family & Caregiver Support:

Parenting for Service Members and Veterans - Delivers information and strategies to Veterans and Service Members to improve their parenting skills through free online courses. Built by VA Mental Health Services in partnership with the DoD National Center for Telehealth and Technology (T2).

Added to Recreation within Family & Caregiver Support:

The Travis Manion Foundation - Character Does Matter - Educates and motivates youth by empowering Veterans and families of the fallen to deliver presentations to emerging leaders.

Added to Education & Training for Virginia, Wisconsin, Ohio, Maryland and New York:

Bryant & Stratton College - Maintains a staff of onsite military coordinators to assist Service Members, Veterans and their families in pursuit of associate or bachelor's degrees.

Added to Service Animals within Other Services & Resources:

Warrior Canine Connection - Provides opportunities to Veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injuries to train service dogs for other Veterans.

Added to Military Appreciation within Other Services & Resources:

Operation Shoebox - Sends care packages to Service Members overseas and wounded warriors.

Added to Recreation & Sports within Other Services & Resources:

The Travis Manion Foundation - 9/11 Heroes Run - Organizes nationwide annual races on or around September 11th to honor the fallen.

The 31Heroes Project - Organizes nationwide athletic events and teams to raise funds for programs that support families of Service Members killed in action.

Added to OEF/OIF Veterans within Other Services & Resources and Survivor Organizations within Family & Caregiver Support:

SEAL Legacy Foundation - Supports families of wounded and fallen Navy SEALs, educational assistance for SEALs and their families, and other charitable causes benefiting the SEAL community.

Added to Non-Chartered Veterans Service Organizations within Other Services & Resources and Survivor Organizations within Family & Caregiver Support:

The Travis Manion Foundation - Challenge Grants - Provides grants, logistical assistance, coaching and mentoring to help Veterans and Service Members transition to civilian life and meet their personal goals.

Added to Scholarships for Service Members and Veterans within Education & Training:

2014 Google/Student Veterans of America Scholarship for Computer Science - Provides scholarships valued at $10,000 and an invitation to the Google Summer Scholars' Retreat to student Veterans enrolled in computer science-related degree programs.
