The Public Health Associate Program
Improve your ability to deliver public health services!
The host site application period for the Public Health Associate Program (PHAP) closes today, January 19, 2017, at 11:59 pm (EST).

PHAP is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) two-year, training program for early-career public health professionals that provides opportunities for recent graduates (with a bachelor’s or master’s degree) to gain broad experience in the day-to-day operations of public health programs. State, tribal, local, and US territorial public health agencies; community-based organizations; public health institutes and associations; academic institutions; and CDC quarantine stations are encouraged to apply to host an associate.

There are numerous benefits to serving as a PHAP host site, including—

  • Gaining CDC-funded field assignees who bring valuable skills and who are well-rounded, energetic, flexible, career-minded individuals with unlimited potential
  • Forming a unique partnership with CDC to develop the nation's next generation of public health professionals
  • Being able to fill workforce gaps caused by budget cuts and staffing shortages
Visit the PHAP website to apply to host an early-career public health professional. The 2017 PHAP host site application period closes today at 11:59 pm (EST).
