Association of emotional intelligence with malpractice claims: a review.
This narrative review examines the role of emotional intelligence in patient safety outcomes. The authors highlight research regarding the connection between physician interpersonal interaction and malpractice risk as well as studies showing how emotional intelligence is associated with better physician performance and higher patient satisfaction. They conclude that interventions to enhance emotional intelligence may improve patient–physician relationships and decrease malpractice risk.
