Grants to Support New Investigators in Addressing Cross-Cutting Violence Prevention and Opioid Overdose Prevention (K01)
CDC released RFA-CE-19-006, Grants to Support New Investigators in Addressing Cross-Cutting Violence Prevention and Opioid Overdose Prevention on January 25, 2019. The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) supports an intensive, supervised (mentored) career development experience in opioid overdose prevention or cross-cutting violence prevention research. The awardee will work in collaboration with an experienced research mentor who will supervise the proposed career development and research experience—together such efforts contribute to research independence.
With this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), NCIPC intends to commit up to $400,000 (direct and indirect costs) in Fiscal Year 2019 to support up to four awards for up to 2 years. The total funding and the number of awards is contingent upon the availability of funds and a sufficient number of meritorious applications.
Intent of Grant
NCIPC’s mission is to prevent injuries and violence through science and action. This NOFO is intended to increase the number of experienced injury and violence prevention research professionals conducting independent opioid overdose prevention or cross-cutting violence prevention research. Applicants must identify an experienced mentor who will supervise the proposed career development and research experience. The proposed research must address the research objectives in the NOFO related to opioid overdose prevention or cross-cutting violence prevention, and must be consistent with the applicant's current level of research experience and expertise.
The NOFO can be found at https://www.grants.gov by searching for RFA-CE-19-006.
