Sean Parker: CRISPR'd babies are Sputnik 2.0

Though most famous for founding Napster and helping to promulgate Facebook, one of biotech’s biggest fanboys — and funders — is Sean Parker. STAT Executive Editor Rick Berke sat down with the Silicon Valley billionaire to talk about the field. He believes there's an arms race happening with China, but in biology.
“If we don’t start thinking about where the country is going to be in 2050 and what the needs will be, we will fall behind countries like China that have a regulatory system that will allow drugs to reach market faster, give their scientists more latitude to conduct experiments, and are willing to massively fund — to do whatever is necessary — to finance life sciences, biotechnology, and health care.”
