Here’s how the next round of the CRISPR patent fight will go
Last month we got the surprise news that the fight over who invented CRISPR genome editing was far from over. Now we know the rules of the coming engagement.
As STAT’s Sharon Begley reports, the U.S. patent office set out terms for the warring factions, the Broad Institute and the University of California, in the form of deciding which motions each side may file. And, unexpectedly, those terms would allow the Broad to argue that the whole reinvigorated debate shouldn’t be happening in the first place
