A third of patients wouldn’t trust the accuracy of a health bill

small, new survey from health care financial services company Salucro asked patients about their health billing experiences and found that only a third feel very confident about the accuracy of a bill they receive. Here’s more:
  • Overall trends: 47% said their most recent health care experience resulted in a payment or billing issue, while 33% said they would be confident about the accuracy of a future bill.
  • Common problems: 42% said incorrect or confusing bills would lead to them switching providers, while a quarter said a lack of payment flexibility or financing options would cause them to switch.
  • Priorities: Nearly half say transparency in knowing what they’re paying for is important. About 1 in 10 say the ability to pay bills on their own without having to speak to an agent is a priority.
