Democrats spar once again — briefly — on 'Medicare for All'

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) used last night’s Democratic debate to tout her newly unveiled, three-year transition plan for “Medicare for All.” Unsurprisingly, she listed the first benefit as lower drug costs — a marquee issue for most Democratic candidates. "On day one as president, I will bring down the cost of prescription drugs — things like insulin and EpiPen," Warren said. "That's going to save tens of millions, hundreds of millions for people." In the first debate since Warren released a $20.5 trillion Medicare for All proposal, she sparred briefly with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who authored the original single-payer proposal, and former Vice President Joe Biden, who opposes their plans. While other debates have featured lengthy health-focused segments, the issue largely took a backseat last night to climate change and House Democrats’ ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
