Nearly 70% of parents struggle with some aspect of living a healthy lifestyle
A small, new survey finds that two-thirds of parents of children under 18 report struggling with at least one socioeconomic or environmental factor that prevents them from living a healthy lifestyle. Here’s more:
- Overall trends: 68% of parents report having trouble with at least one lifestyle factor — including providing enough food for their family or being able to pay bills.
- Medical factors: 30% said they don’t have time to worry about their kids’ health unless it’s an emergency. Nearly a third say they’ve skipped a doctor or dentist appointment because of an inability to pay for visits or find transportation.
- Non-medical factors: A third say their doctor or insurer asked about non-medical factors in their life. About 17% worry about their family’s safety, and the same number have trouble finding work or affordable child care.
