This 37-page paper outlines the research evidence regarding commonly experienced traumatic events and daily stressors for adult and child refugees and asylum-seekers, mental disorders experienced by adult and child refugees, and psychological and pharmacological interventions. It also discusses the role of culture in influencing mental health, and barriers to treatment following forcible displacement.
