Turns out the hospital industry is tied to those pharma-bashing TV ads
Last year, just after President Trump released his signature drug pricing proposal, a bunch of anti-pharma ads started popping up on radio stations around the country, paid for by a dark-money firm that refused to disclose its backers.
Now, as STAT’s Lev Facher reports, we know: The group has deep ties to the American Hospital Association, an influential lobbying group, and it spent about $1.4 million last year to skewer the pharma industry and advocate for pricing reforms.
The group, called Citizens for Truth in Drug Pricing, has focused its spending on conservative media, and its roster of leaders are veterans of Republican politics.
