This public workshop was held by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Committee on the Respiratory Health Effects of Airborne Hazards Exposures in the Southwest Asia Theater of Military Operations on October 3-4, 2019. The purpose of this workshop was to gather information related to the committee’s charge, specifically emerging evidence on respiratory health outcomes in service members from research being conducted on military and veteran populations; research that could feasibly be conducted to address outstanding questions regarding such respiratory health outcomes and that could generate answers; and newly emerging technologies that could aid in these efforts.
