JASON Artificial Intelligence Report
JASON, an independent group of advisors to the government, recently completed a new report considering how artificial intelligence (AI) can shape the future of public health, community health, and health care delivery. The report was requested by ONC and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). The new report focuses on the technical capabilities, limitations, and applications of AI that can be realized within the next ten years. Specifically, the report centers on how computer-based decision procedures, under the broad umbrella of AI, can assist in improving health and health care. Read the JASON AI Report. Secure API Server Showdown Challenge: Stage 2 Registration Now Open
Registration is now open for Stage 2 of the latest ONC challenge - the Secure API Server Showdown. Stage 2 participants will further harden open source FHIR servers by dedicated testing of their security components. Participants will test the winning FHIR servers from Stage 1 and identify potential security vulnerabilities for a chance to win cash prizes. The deadline to register for Stage 2 is Monday, February 5, 2018 by 11:59 pm ET. Participants can sign up via the Stage 2 Registration Form on the challenge website.

The ONC Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR) Patient-Generated Health Data (PGHD) final white paper and accompanying practical guide explore what it takes to effectively capture, use, and share PGHD so that care teams and researchers have the ability to access timely, trustworthy, and relevant PGHD that can ultimately improve health outcomes and lower costs.

Interoperability Proving Ground (IPG) Spotlight
The Interoperability Proving Ground (IPG) Spotlight project of the week is the EMDI- ResMed Interoperability Pilot. This project seeks to integrate GoScripts, an electronic scripting platform, with an electronic medical record (EMR) referral source, such as a hospital or physician group EMR, to enable durable medical equipment (DME) prescriptions to be submitted to a DME supplier.
Have your interoperability project featured as an IPG Spotlight by submitting a new project at the IPG or update the status of a project that had been posted within the last 90 days. Once a project is submitted or updated, it will be added to the queue to be randomly selected as a featured project. Learn more about the Interoperability Proving Ground (IPG) Spotlight and the IPG. CMS: Eligible Hospitals and CAHs: Remember to Use QualityNet for Attestation in 2018
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is streamlining the attestation process for the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program by migrating attestation from the Medicare & Medicaid EHR Incentive Program Registration and Attestation System to the QualityNet Secure Portal (QNet). As of January 2, 2018, Medicare eligible hospitals and CAHs attesting to CMS for the EHR Incentive Program must use QNet. The change applies to calendar year (CY) 2017 attestations, as well as future reporting periods.
