Increasing Access to Treatment and Recovery Support Services in Rural Areas

Thursday | August 22, 2019 | 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT

SAMHSA’s Bringing Recovery Supports to Scale Technical Assistance Center Strategy (BRSS TACS) invites you to join national experts in a conversation about the challenges that rural communities face in providing access to treatment and recovery support services.
Rural residents who experience serious mental illness or substance use disorder may find it difficult to access a full continuum of mental and substance use disorder services due to the significant shortage of qualified service providers in their communities. To overcome these challenges, some rural communities have adopted creative solutions that make use of existing community resources, such as collaborative partnerships, telehealth services, peer-run warm lines, and mobile services.
Presenters will discuss the unique needs and challenges that rural communities face in providing access to treatment and recovery support services and creative approaches rural communities can use to provide a continuum of services.
Join us for this free, interactive virtual event moderated by Steven Samra, BRSS TACS Deputy Director.
