Consumer Genetics Conference
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Consumer Genetics Conference
(www.consumergeneticsconference.com), approaching attendee and exhibitor capacity, has a limited number of openings available.
“The science behind our tests has been tested clinically, and the response from our customers, and the public in general has been highly positive. Our products have received significant levels of media coverage including stories on the Today Show and in the Wall Street Journal.”
.Last year, the conference attracted media outlets and news programs such as “60 Minutes,” providing exhibitors maximum exposure, and giving the public a first look at a revolutionary new industry.

Genetics is becoming mainstream, as evidenced by Illumina CEO Jay Flatley, who at last year’s conference unveiled an Apple iPhone application that will allow users to access their genome.
Another company leading the charge of genetics into the mainstream is Interleukin Genetics, a startup that sells genetic tests for weight management, heart-disease risk, bone health and nutritional needs via its Inherent Health brand. Interleukin CEO Lew Bender stated, “The science behind our tests has been tested clinically, and the response from our customers, and the public in general has been highly positive. Our products have received significant levels of media coverage including stories on the Today Show and in the Wall Street Journal.” Bender continued, “With innovative research and focus on specific indications, we will continue to demonstrate leadership in the broad application of genetic testing.”
Taking place at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, following its highly successful inaugural event last year, the CGC has an exhibit area with companies offering everything from genetic tests that give individuals insight into their heart health, nutritional requirements, and optimal weight-loss strategies. A mix of biotechnology and diagnostic companies — from those distributing genetic tests through Amway to biotechnology companies with new technologies — will be present.
Conference attendees include entrepreneurs, scientists, and physicians. Talks at the meeting will range from how physicians are using genetic information to treat their patients to how effectively people can use this information to manage their health and how new DNA sequencing technologies will make this a reality.
Conference registration, priced at only $225 for all three days, was made affordable to allow the maximum number of organizations to attend, including genetic counselors and startups that may not otherwise have the budget. “Organized by industry insiders, and not a professional trade show organization, the intent of the conference is not to make a profit, but rather to further the field of genetics and medicine,” stated John Boyce, Conference Founder.
About the Consumer Genetics Conference
Now in its second year, CGC (www.consumergeneticsconference.com) is a tight-knit meeting of top decision makers across multiple fields, including research, venture capital, law, healthcare, biopharma, and the consumer industry. CGC aims to be a meeting where all views on consumer genetics can be heard, giving the community an opportunity to shape itself and plan its future. The inaugural Consumer Genetics Conference last year saw more than 600 attendees.
