Funding Opportunity Purpose | This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits Exploratory/Developmental (R21) applications from United Stated U.S.-based institutions with a Russia-institution partner in collaboration with the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) to establish Collaborative Research Partnerships (CRP) in the field of HIV/AIDS in science that is directed toward increasing knowledge and understanding in behavioral, social, and biomedical topics that will eventually impact HIV/AIDS and HIV-associated co-infections, co-morbidities, and complications. The U.S.-Russia Bilateral CRP Program is designed to develop collaborations between scientists and institutions in the U.S. and Russia to conduct high quality HIV/AIDS research of mutual interest and benefit to both countries while developing the basis for future institutional and individual scientific collaborations. This FOA will utilize the research capacities of the institutions and scientists in both countries to advance the field of HIV/AIDS research and to develop preliminary data that may support a more extensive future research proposal to test an HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment program. It is expected as part of the U.S.-Russia collaboration that awardees will foster collaborative efforts, including but not limited to joint publications, poster and/or oral presentations. |
