Adoption has many facets and touches people in different ways. Each year in November, we celebrate National Adoption Month to build awareness of adoption throughout the Nation and to draw attention to the children in foster care. Nearly 102,000 children in the United States today are waiting for the love, stability, and protection of a permanent adoptive family.
The key thing for prospective adoptive parents to remember is that you don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent. That’s why the Department of Health and Human Services is working with AdoptUSKids and the Ad Council on a series of public service announcements designed to encourage prospective parents to consider adopting from foster care. The first step is deciding you want to pursue adoption and contacting an adoption agency.
