The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Electronic Data Methods Forum, and the Commonwealth Fund are pleased to announce a special eGEMs (Generating Evidence & Methods to improve patient outcomes) issue “Lessons from the Field: Health IT Enabled Community Based Transformation.” Guest edited by Drs. Hadi Kharrazi and Jonathan Weiner, the special issue highlights lessons learned from eight Beacon Communities on how they used health information technology (health IT) to achieve better health care at lower costs. The Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program was made possible by funding from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT.
