A kids art contest with 'Andy Biotic'

The New York Department of Health is holding a fun — and educational — contest to help children across the state better understand antibiotic resistance. The agency’s “Superbug Superheroes Art Contest” is looking for kids in grades 3-5 to submit artwork that depicts how they can save “Andy Biotic,” an antibiotic superhero who needs to maintain his strength against the threat of superbugs. Kids have to make sure their art goes along with a story about Andy, and possible scenarios include how he could be saved through proper hand-washing or getting the necessary vaccinations. Three winners from each grade will receive a prize or certificate, and their artwork will be displayed on the department’s website. The deadline for entries is Monday, Dec. 1, at 5 p.m. ET.
