This one-hour, 28-minute interactive virtual workshop discusses disability justice approaches to disaster assistance that recognize histories of harm and communities of color. Objectives include identifying disability justice principles and their relevance to disaster assistance/emergency management practices; understanding how inequities in emergency resources, services, plans, and programs disproportionately affect black indigenous people of color with disabilities; and incorporating intersectional strategies into state and local policies, programs, and practices.
