CAHPS Clinician & Group Survey Database

The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Clinician & Group (CG) Aggregated Database provides access to results for the 2 most recent years of CAHPS CG survey data. The survey asks patients about their recent experiences with healthcare providers and staff in doctors’ offices. Results are based on the voluntary submission of survey data to the CAHPS database.
The 2018 CAHPS CG survey database included results from 313,706 surveys submitted by 2,024 physician practices.
CAHPS CG 2018 survey results show:
  • The highest scoring measure was "How Well Providers Communicate with Patients." "Getting Timely Appointments, Care, and Information” scored the lowest.
  • Practices in Louisiana, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Tennessee scored above average for all composites.
  • Small practices with only one provider scored higher on measures such as “Getting Timely Appointments, Care, and Information” than practices with two or more providers.
Users can view results via an online reporting systemChartbook (PDF), infographic (PDF), or research datasets.
