Correction for the General Header Example in the 2019 CMS QRDA I IG for Hospital Quality Reporting
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has corrected two typos in the 2019 CMS Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA) Category I Implementation Guide (IG) Figure 5: General Header Example. The CMS QRDA I IG outlines requirements for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) reporting electronic clinical quality measures for the:
- Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program
- Medicare and Medicaid Promoting Interoperability Programs for Eligible Hospitals and CAHs
The QRDA Category I Framework (V4) is a Health Level Seven International (HL7) QRDA I R1 STU R5 requirement. No changes were required in the HL7 IG. The 2019 CMS QRDA IG has been updated to correct two typos in Figure 5: General Header Example.

If the incorrect extension is used, QRDA documents will be rejected by the QualityNet Secure Portal and generate a CMS_0073 conformance error for the 2019 reporting period.
Note: No corrections were required for the Schematron or sample file.
