The authors were not able to determine cost-effectiveness for interventions

aimed at increasing breast cancer screening because there was not enough

available evidence. The full-text article is available on The Community Guide website:

Why is this important?

  • In the past 40 years, the number of cases of cervical cancer and the number of deaths from cervical cancer have decreased significantly. This decline largely is the result of more women getting regular Pap tests, which can find cervical precancer before it turns into cancer.1
  • Among adults aged 50 to 75 years, one quarter have never been screened for colorectal cancer.2
  • Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States.3 More than 245,000 new diagnoses are made each year.4
