Webinar—Narrowing the Rural Health Disparity Gap: Success in Using Accountable Care Organizations and Integrated Care Models
In collaboration with the American Health Lawyers Association’s In-House Counsel Practice Group, CDC’s Public Health Law Program is offering the final live webinar in a three-part series titled “Narrowing the Rural Health Disparity Gap: Success in Using Accountable Care Organizations and Integrated Care Models.” It will be held on November 14 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm (EST). Speakers will comment on healthcare reform initiatives designed to improve quality, lower costs, and improve population health, including accountable care models and integrated care models, and will highlight evidence of success in using these models to narrow rural health disparities. The registration code is CDCFALL2019.

Resources: US E-Cigarette Regulations—50 State Review
With vaping injuries on the rise, states are exploring ways to address this public health emergency. The Public Health Law Center has released this review based on current state statutes from all 50 states and Washington, DC. It includes information about e-cigarettes pertaining to the following areas: definition of “tobacco product,” taxation, product packaging, youth access/other retail restrictions, licensure, and smoke-free air legislation. Training Program: Fundamentals of Health Law
The American Health Lawyers Association is hosting a training November 17–19 in Chicago, Illinois. It is intended for new professionals in the field of public health law and those who may have some experience but need a refresher. Program faculty will address legal issues and future challenges. The training will also be a networking opportunity. Register for either in-person attendance or the live webcast.

National Judicial Opioid Task Force Resource Center
The National Center for State Courts founded the National Judicial Opioid Task Force (NJOTF) in 2017 to examine current efforts and find solutions to address the opioid epidemic. The NJOTF Resource Center provides tools and products on a variety of topics pertinent to the justice system and the opioid crisis, including: training for court professionals, communication and collaboration across systems, special populations, treatment and services, understanding substance use disorders and the opioid epidemic, and court-based programs and strategies.

Webinar: Tools to Assist Schools Navigate the Vaping Epidemic
The Public Health Law Center is hosting a webinar to help schools address youth vaping, covering topics such as rising trends, the health consequences of youth vaping, and the role of schools in helping to address the epidemic. Key components of a model policy will be discussed, along with the importance of tackling the addictive nature of nicotine rather than using strictly punitive measures. The webinar will take place on November 13 at 1:00 pm (EST) and will include speakers from both the Public Health Law Center and the American Lung Association.
