HHS Secretary Azar Declares Public Health Emergency for Puerto Rico Following Earthquakes

A series of earthquakes and aftershocks in Puerto Rico last week prompted Health and Human Services Secretary Alex. M. Azar II to declare a public health emergency for the U.S. territory. This declaration provides healthcare facilities in Puerto Rico with more flexibility in providing health care to people across the islands who are enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
