Bolstering the Role of Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils in the Development of Local Behavioral Health Service Continuums

Criminal Justice Coordinating Councils (CJCCs) convene elected and senior justice system leaders to collaboratively address needs within their local justice systems. With the Stepping Up Initiative and other national efforts to reduce the number of people with mental illness in jails, more CJCCs are realizing their role in advocating for and supporting the creation of robust behavioral health service continuums. This webinar will present three members of CJCCs who will talk about how they have leveraged their membership on their CJCC to increase the development of behavioral health services and interventions. This event will provide meaningful ideas and tips for justice system professionals to consider in reaching out to behavioral health system leaders, building consensus around proposed behavioral health and justice system changes, and leveraging their positional power to move forward with meaningful reforms.
