Carbon Monoxide Detector Requirements: Laws and Regulations

Carbon monoxide poisoning is the second most common cause of non-medicinal poisoning deaths. Every year, more than 10,000 people are treated for carbon monoxide poisoning in the United States, and more than 400 die. In March 2018, the National Conference of State Legislatures published a database of states that have enacted statutes regarding placement of carbon monoxide detectors in hotels/motels, schools, and homes.
