Earlier this week, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced 6 new academic institutions to its Prevention Epicenter (PE) program. The PE program has published many findings that have improved patient safety. This week at ID Week, a forum for health professionals in infectious disease to collaborate, cooperate, and learn from one another, many of the PE programs are showcasing their research findings.
See the specific list of presentations being discussed at ID Week.
Some of the topics that will be presented include:
  • Multi-drug Resistant Organisms (MDRO)
  • Clostridium Difficile Infection
  • Microbiome
  • Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia
  • Technology, Surveillance, and Antimicrobial Stewardship
Also presenting at ID Week is the Duke Epicenter. Their study found that using a combination of chemicals and UV light to clean patient rooms cut transmission of four major superbugs.
