Director, Division of Health Information Technology, Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement – Job Announcement
Exciting opportunity to lead the growing Division of Health Information Technology in the Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement (CEPI) at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) focused on developing and disseminating evidence to inform policy and practice on how health information technology can improve the quality of care.  CEPI (http://www.ahrq.gov/cpi/centers/cepi/index.html) generates new knowledge, synthesizes evidence, translates science on what works in health and health care delivery, and catalyzes practice improvement across health care settings.  AHRQ has worked with over 180 institutions in 46 States and the District of Columbia, to produce foundational work on many uses of IT to improve health delivery including telemedicine, personal health records, health information exchange and e-prescribing. 
The division Director will provide the vision and strategic direction for the Agency’s work to improve the quality of care by generating new knowledge and helping providers and health care systems use the evidence to improve practice through the use of health information technology.  The successful candidate should have a clinical background and/or advanced training in a related field with expertise in medical informatics research and the application of health information technology to improve care and increase the uptake of evidence in practice.  The Director will represent the Division and Agency at national research meetings and high-level Departmental committees and working groups.  The Director will supervise Division staff and be responsible for the Division’s daily operations.
