Today the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released guidance to states clarifying and expanding upon the opportunities for facilitating Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) enrollment described in our guidance to states (SHO #13-003; ACA #26) issued on May 17, 2013. In particular, CMS is offering states a new opportunity to use the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) gross income to support Medicaid eligibility for certain populations under the Medicaid state plan authority. The guidance is available online at http://www.medicaid.gov/ federal-policy-guidance/ federal-policy-guidance.html
Simultaneously, CMS released the June 2015 monthly report on state Medicaid and CHIP eligibility and enrollment data. These data were reported by state Medicaid and CHIP agencies as part of the Medicaid and CHIP Performance Indicator process. The full report is available on Medicaid.gov at http://www.medicaid.gov/ medicaid-chip-program- information/program- information/medicaid-and-chip- enrollment-data/medicaid-and- chip-application-eligibility- determination-and-enrollment- data.html.
