Legal Aspects of Public Health Food Safety
Each year, 1 in 6 Americans get sick from contaminated foods or beverages. In honor of National Food Safety Education Month, we present “Legal Aspects of Public Health Food Safety,” an online course for public health practitioners working in food safety and the attorneys who work with them. This training describes legal issues in public health food safety, including federal privacy requirements for surveillance and response, the source and scope of state and local authority, and the process for developing food safety regulations. This course was developed by the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice in partnership with the Network for Public Health Law.
