More Babies Born Dependent on Opioids


The national rate of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) nearly tripled between 2008 and 2015, according to data from AHRQ’s Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project. This graph shows a steady increase in NAS from 2008 (2.2 per 10,000 births) to 2015 (6.4 per 10,000).
