SAMHSA is accepting applications for up to $5.6 million for grants implementing the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2017 Cooperative Agreements to Implement the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (Short Title: National Strategy Grants) grants totaling $5.6 million in grants to implement the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention.
The purpose of this program is to support states in implementing the 2012 National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (NSSP) goals and objectives focused on preventing suicide and suicide attempts among adults age 25 and older in order to reduce the overall suicide rate and number of suicides in the U.S. nationally.
SAMHSA anticipates that up to four awards will be made for up to $471,000 each year for up to three years. Actual award amounts may vary, depending on the availability of funds.
WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are state government agencies, including the District of Columbia and U.S. Territories. See Section III-1 of the funding opportunity announcement for complete eligibility information.

Applicants must apply online through http://www.Grants.gov. Please refer to Appendix B, “Guidance for Electronic Submission of Applications” of the RFA for more information.
APPLICATION DUE DATE: April 10, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Time). Applications must be received by the due date and time to be considered for review. Please review carefully Section IV-2 of the RFA for submission requirements.
