President Roosevelt's 1940 Dedication of the First NCI Building

On October 31,1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered a speech dedicating the first six buildings of the new National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. In this video excerpt, President Roosevelt remarks on the importance of the National Cancer Institute, which had been authorized by Congress in 1937 and which would be located in Building 6 on the new NIH campus.
