Sean’s #GetCovered Story: Saving His Son’s Life and His Family’s Future

This is a season of giving thanks. In my family’s case, we’re especially grateful for the health coverage we were able to get because of the Affordable Care Act.
I’m studying for a PhD in economic development and teaching at the University of Texas-Dallas, and my wife Jamie works for a small hair salon. Neither of us had health insurance, so we got coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace last year for us and our young daughter. Our son was on the way. We felt it was something we should do.
It was fortunate that we did.
