Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) sent this bulletin at 09/06/2012 01:14 PM EDTPlease plan to attend the September session of CDC’s Public Health Grand Rounds, “Explaining the Unexplained – Infectious Diseases, Pathology, and Public Health.” This session will be available via live webcast from CDC headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday, September 18, at 1 p.m. (EDT) at www.cdc.gov/about/grand-rounds.
Join us for this exciting session of Grand Rounds where we will highlight the role of rapid identification of emerging infectious disease, demonstrate the role pathology plays, and discuss the critical roles of medical examiners, coroners, and state and local agencies.
As our world increases in interconnectivity of both technology and people, the rapid identification of emerging infectious diseases becomes more important especially in regards to disease treatment, control and prevention. Pathologists are often among the first healthcare workers to encounter infectious disease outbreaks. They are in an excellent position to discover emerging infectious diseases.
CDC plays on ongoing role in the laboratory diagnosis of unexplained infectious illnesses and collaborates 24/7 with state, local, and international partners in order to track and understand the unexplained.
Future Grand Rounds topics include early intervention to improve health across the lifespan, injection safety, disability, and venous thromboembolism. All CDC employees and contractors are encouraged to attend these informative sessions.
E-mail your questions about this topic before or during the session.
