CDC Telebriefing on West Nile Virus Update, Wednesday, August 29
As of August 28th, 2012, a total of 48 states have reported West Nile virus infections in people, birds or mosquitoes. Forty-three states have reported at least one human case of West Nile virus disease.
Fetal and Perinatal Mortality, United States, 2006
There were 25,972 reported fetal deaths at 20 weeks of gestation or more in the United States in 2006. The U.S. fetal mortality rate was 6.05 fetal deaths at 20 weeks of gestation or more per 1,000 live births, 3% lower than in 2005 (6.22).
Cohort Fertility Tables for All, White, and Black Women: United States, 2006-2009
These tables present detailed fertility data for cohorts of women as they pass through their childbearing years and include central birth rates, cumulative birth rates, birth distributions, and birth probabilities.
Births: Final Data for 2010
The number of births declined to 3,999,386 in 2010, 3 percent less than in 2009. The teenage birth rate fell 10 percent to 34.2 per 1,000.

Lead Poisoning in Pregnant Women Who Used Ayurvedic Medications from India - New York City, 2011-2012
Foreign-born pregnant women might be at increased risk for lead poisoning. Health-care providers should ask patients, especially foreign-born or pregnant patients, about any use of foreign health products, supplements, and remedies such as Ayurvedic medications.

Safety and Health among Hotel Cleaners
CDC convened a number of partners to develop the National Services Agenda, which includes safety and health goals for the Accommodations Industry. Groups such as unions, worker organizations, government agencies, and hotel/motel associations can build partnerships to implement these goals and help ensure that hotels are safe for all employees.
Breastfeeding Report Card-United States, 2012
This year’s Breastfeeding Report Card reveals that hospital support for breastfeeding has improved. Since 2009 47 states and the District of Columbia have increased their score on CDC’s Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care survey.Births at Baby-Friendly hospitals have increased from 1.93 percent in 2008 to 6.22 percent in 2012.

This interim guidance includes consideration of new information and addresses pregnancy and safety issues for heterosexually active adults at very high risk for sexual HIV acquisition that were not discussed in the previous interim guidance for the use of PrEP in MSM.
Update to CDC's Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines, 2010: Oral Cephalosporins No Longer a Recommended Treatment for Gonococcal Infections
CDC recommends combination therapy with ceftriaxone 250 mg intramuscularly and either azithromycin 1 g orally as a single dose or doxycycline 100 mg orally twice daily for 7 days as the most reliably effective treatment for uncomplicated gonorrhea.
Vital Signs: Walking Among Adults - United States, 2005 and 2010
From 2005 to 2010, the proportion of U.S. adults who reported walking increased significantly by 6.3 percentage points, from 55.7% to 62.0%. Among men, the increase was 7.4 percentage points, from 54.3% to 61.7%, and among women the increase was 5.2 percentage points, from 57.2% to 62.4%. Among both sexes, the prevalence increase was significant in most subgroups.
