Organizational ambidexterity and the hybrid middle manager: the case of patient safety in UK hospitals.



    Examining the role of middle managers in patient safety, this study found that use of social capital, credibility as a professional, and a broad view of responsibilities was associated with a stronger focus on patient safety. The authors suggest that future research should work on developing interventions to foster these qualities for safety leadership.
