Improving the Medical Records Request Process
ONC posted a new report and blog post identifying a number of ways to simplify the process for patients and health systems to request and share medical records. The report looks at the challenges patients and caregivers face in obtaining their health information and the processes and request forms used by more than 50 health systems across the country. Download the Improving the Health Records Request Process for Patients Report and read the blog post.
ONC’s Workforce Training Program Achieves Exceeds Target
In 2015, ONC launched a two-year cooperative agreement program, which funded seven universities and colleges to train incumbent health care workers to use health IT in a variety of settings. Nearly 9,000 individuals completed the training– well over ONC’s target of training 6,000 professionals. Each awardee will continue training health care workers through their respective programs.  The awardees also updated training materials for 20 existing curriculum components and instructional materials developed by the HITECH-funded Workforce Curriculum Development Program. They also developed five new curriculum components, which will be posted on HealthIT.gov later this year. Read three success stories from ONC’s Workforce Training Program.
Data Update: EHR Products Used for MU Attestation Public Use File
ONC updated the EHR Products Used for Meaningful Use Attestation open dataset with the 2016 Medicare EHR Incentive Program data. The public use file contains a time series of all eligible hospital and health care professional attestations through the Medicare EHR Incentive Program and the certified health IT products reported by those providers for each year. The dataset is available in an open format with complete documentation and explanation of the data.
Update: Health IT Developer Quick Stats
ONC’s health IT developer quick stats for health care professionals and hospitals are now updated with 2016 Medicare EHR Incentive Program data. The quick stats visualize the number of health care providers who report using a certified health IT product from the top 20 developers. In addition, ONC makes the complete dataset that supports the visualizations open for public use. It is accessible through the Health IT Dashboard open API and as a download.
Reminder: Proposed Interoperability Standards Measurement Framework Open for Public Comment

Please note that comments and recommendations submitted as part of this process will be made public by ONC.
