Update Available: v7.0.1 ICD-10-CM/PCS SAS QI & WinQI Software for AHRQ Quality Indicators

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is pleased to release the updated v7.0.1 ICD-10-CM/PCS SAS QI and WinQI software for the AHRQ Quality Indicators.

WinQI software improvements include:
  • The v7.0.1 ICD-10-CM/PCS WinQI release includes discharges in the PSI03, Pressure Ulcer Rate, that have multiple secondary diagnoses for pressure ulcer with at least one present on admission and at least one not present on admission. Discharges with any pressure ulcer not present on admission should be included in the measure, if all other criteria are met. The v7.0. release did not include these discharges in the outcome.

Note: SAS QI v7.0 beta version does not have this issue and calculates the PSI 03 rates accurately.

  • Added Area Population Data: support for years 2016 and 2017 area population data has been added to the software. The population data is used in calculating the denominator of area level indicators.

About the AHRQ QI Software
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) offers free software to help organizations using the AHRQ Quality Indicators (QIs) generate results that are both accurate and actionable. Use of this free software ensures a standard, trusted approach to quality measurement and means more resources are available for supporting improvements to patient care. The AHRQ QI software uses readily available data, requiring only administrative data that are already collected and reported by hospitals in most States. Using administrative data for measurement promotes consistency when evaluating performance over time and across initiatives and reduces costs associated with data collection and reporting. The software is compatible with two commonly used platforms, SAS and Windows, and is updated on an annual basis.
