New CDC Resources - HIV and Hepatitis C Outbreak Detection and Response

The opioid misuse epidemic has substantially increased the transmission risk of blood-borne viruses, including HIV and hepatitis C virus, through injection drug use. The following documents provide guidance on how to prepare for, detect, investigate and respond to an HIV or hepatitis C outbreak among people who inject drugs.

New FREE Continuing Education from MMWR and Medscape: Prevention of Hepatitis B Virus Infection in the United States: Recommendations of the ACIP

This MMWR / Medscape CE activity is intended for infectious disease specialists, family medicine specialists, gastroenterologists, internists, nephrologists, obstetrician-gynecologists, pediatricians, public health officials, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians caring for patients with or at risk for HBV infection.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to discuss new or updated recommendations regarding prevention of HBV infection in the United States, based on updated guidance from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), identify previously issued ACIP recommendations regarding prevention of HBV infection in the United States, including recommendations for HBV vaccination of infants, children, and adolescents and describe ACIP/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations for HBV prophylaxis after occupational and nonoccupational exposures.
