Root cause analysis to support infection control in healthcare premises.

Root cause analysis is a popular method to investigate adverse events and identify contributing factors. Highlighting how application of root cause analysis can reduce health care–associated infections, this commentary reviews results from root cause analyses that explored implanted intravenous access portinfections and surgical site infections.
