AHRQ Stats: Causes of Death
Heart disease remained the leading cause of death in the United States, followed by cancer and chronic lower respiratory disease, in 2010. Cancer was the leading cause of death for adults age 45 to 64, while accidents were the leading cause of death for adults age 25 to 44. National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report
